Eagle Boards of Review
Here is the latest from Jerry Simon:
The following scouts passed their BOR on December 21, 2015. This will be their Date-of-Rank but will not be official until CAC receives approval from National which should happen in 2 to 4 Weeks.
Lars Conard – Troop 56
Richard Logan Witt – Troop 358
Here is the latest report from Eagle Boards Coordinator Jerry Simon:
These North Star scouts successfully completed their Eagle BOR last night, December 9th. This will be their date-of-rank but only after the applications are approved by National. Normally it takes two to four weeks for the Eagle Rank packet to get back to CAC but, due to the time of year, it may be closer to the longer period.Zachary Badger T- 358Jonathan Martz T- 73James Raines T- 269Luther Rice T- 358Nicholas Rivelli T-35John Sweeny T- 514Jesper Wiebke T- 358Brendan Williams T-174

Congratulations to these scouts on completing their obligations for the Eagle Scout rank! We look forward to the good news of National’s confirmation.
North Star averages about 30 new Eagles per year.Starting in January of this year through October, 35 scouts have received their Eagle Rank. We will be doing six more in November and at least five in December. It looks like 2015 will be a banner year for us.Considering all the issues North Star has had trying to be a functioning district, we have great troops with great volunteers that are making Scouting happen.
UPDATED 10/17/15 to add videos.
UPDATED 10/20/15: boards for November and December have been fully staffed. Thank you for the willing participation from so many units!
North Star District has a joyous problem. We have more Eagle Candidates than our regularly scheduled boards’ capacity.
District is planning on holding extra boards on November 11th to meet the demand.
We need board members to volunteer that evening, and possibly again in December. Please contact Jeff Heck if you can serve on a board or two that evening.
Please encourage new scouters in your troop to volunteer. This is a wonderful way for scouters to learn about Eagle process. Jerry will give new board members instruction on their duties. They can also learn more from the Eagle Board of Review YouTube video from the BSA, with this blogger’s favorite scouter on the internet Clarke Green as one of the presenters. Since Eagle Boards are nothing more than specialized Boards of Review, it also pays to listen to this YouTube Video from National on Boards of Review in general. More specialized topics on the subject are available on advancement from Scouting.org.
We may need nearly 20 volunteers to serve on these November boards.
Jerry Simon, chair of the Eagle Boards of Review, has reported to the District that the following scouts have passed their Eagle Boards of Review on September 9, 2015:

Long-time and recurring Eagle Board of Review Coordinator Jerry Simon has summarized his years of experience in one guidebook. Jerry has written some of the material. He has also used some of the material written by his immediate predecessor as the then-titled Eagle Coordinator Charlie Meyer, a life-long North Star Scout and Scouter.
Jerry’s experience has taught him that new scoutmasters and all Eagle candidates are slightly bewildered about the Eagle application process. He has reduced the process down to a how-to guide for our district.
