A report from District Pinewood Derby Chair Bill Buchalter:
I would like to remind North Star District pack leaders to contact me if they need a track in the upcoming Pinewood Derby season. My email address firstname.lastname@example.org is the best way to contact me about arranging a date.
Also, the District Derby is going to be on Saturday, March 18th, and more details about that will be coming soon.
From North Star District Pinewood Derby Coordinator Bill Buchalter:
North Star Pack Leaders,
It’s almost that time of year again for Pinewood Derbies! I have begun putting together a schedule for the packs in the district who need help with a track, and wanted to reach out and let you all know what days are already spoken for and encourage you to send your requests in soon to make sure you get the date you want.
- Wednesday, Feb 22nd – Pack 179
- Saturday, Feb 25th – Pack 830
- Monday, March 6th – Pack 35
When you send your request please make sure to specify the date and time you’d like to run your race, and what time we can be there to set up. We prefer at least 30 minutes prior to race start for set up. Also, it helps to have a rough idea how many boys are participating in your pack so we have an idea how long it will be.
If you are no longer the leader in charge of organizing the derby for your pack, please let me know and forward me the contact information for your replacement.
Thanks, and I look forward to helping your boys have an awesome Pinewood Derby.
Cub Master – Pack 830
On Saturday, April 16, 2016, the District held its annual district-wide Pinewood Derby.
Congratulations to the winners!
- Jacob Dennis, formerly of Pack 18, now Troop 18.
- Jackson Herbold, Pack 105.
- Jack Jent, Pack 35.
The District Pinewood is this week!
For more information see the District calendar. The top 3 finishers from each pack are free. Others who wish to participate will pay a nominal fee at the door.
Come see the new district pinewood derby track!
The District Pinewood Derby is fast approaching. Click the link for more details. No tickets or RSVPs are required, but RSVPs are always welcome.
The top three winners of each pack’s Pinewood Derby are automatically eligible. No entry fee.
Additional participants are welcome for a small entry fee. There is traditionally a separate race for tag-along siblings’ and parents’ cars.
Troops should remember this is a great way to see our Cubs and look at making recruiting efforts.
I have received the following email from our new District Pinewood Derby Coordinator Bill Buchalter, also Cubmaster of Pike Township’s Pack 830.
I’ve gotten a number of requests from various packs for help with their pinewood derbies. Please let the packs know to contact me ASAP if they need help. The calendar is filling up fast, and if packs need help they may have to find an alternate date if they don’t get on the schedule soon. The dates I currently have signed up are:
Jan 31st – Pack 18 – 2nd Presbyterian Church
Feb 20th – Pack 830 – Eagle Creek Community Church
Feb 24th – Pack 179 – Crooked Creek Elementary
March 7th – Pack 35 – St. Joan of Arc
March 13th – Pack 175 – Christ the King
Cub Master – Pack 830
If there are scheduling problems, please do not hesitate to let Bill know. We are willing to work with you to find alternatives.
Remember this year, the district is using a new track which is longer. Please make sure that you verify that your space works with the new track. If it does not, we will work on alternatives. (I would encourage creative thinking to make the new track work, since it will make the races more exciting.)
